Closterium lunula (MÜLL.) NITSCH ex RALFS The cells are 6-8 times longer than wide, almost straight, whereas the dorsal side is somewhat more strongly curved than the ventral side. The cell ends are broadly rounded off and sometimes curved a little backwards. In the terminate vacuoles there are numerous tiny cristals. The cell wall ist lightly striated.
Dimension: Length 500 – 900 µm, width 60 – 100 µm.
Ecology: Very tolerant concerning living conditions, in acidic and alcalien waters of all kinds often abundant.
Occurrence: Ubiquitous.

Die Zellen sind 6-8 mal länger als breit, fast gerade, wobei die Rückenseite (Dorsalseite) etwas stärk gebogen ist als die Bauchseite (Ventralseite). Die Zellenden sind breit abgerundet und mitunter ein wenig zurück gebogen, in den Endvakuolen zahlreiche kleine Kristalle. Die Zellwand ist sehr zart gestreift.
Dimensionen: Länge 500 – 900 µm, Breite in der Mitte: 60 – 100 µm.
Ökologie: Milieutolerante Alge, in sauren bis basischen Gewässern aller Art oft massenhaft.
Verbreitung: Weltweit.
