Micrasterias rotata A very special view on Micrasterias rotata using an inverted microscope. The cell ist standing perpendicular upon its apical lobe. Like all the desmids Micrasterias can move using mucilage for backstroke. They move towards the light. When it´s dark they erect with help of mucilage ejection. The scale bar indicates 100 µm.

Das Bild zeigt einen ganz besonderer Blick auf Micrasterias rotata unter Verwendung eines inversen Mikroskop. Die Zelle steht senkrecht auf dem Deckglas. Wie alle Zieralgen kann sich Micrasterias durch Ausstoß von Schleim bewegen, üblicherweise in Richtung des Lichts. Wenn es dunkel wird, stellen sich die Zellen senkrecht auf. Der Messbalken markiert eine Länge von 100 µm.
