Hyalodiscus spec.

This thecamoebae show a very special kind of locomotion. Climbing along algae filaments they resemble the locomotion of spanworms. On coverglasses they show sliding locomotion.
 
Collection from littoral region (reed belt by Phragmites) of a rain storage reservoir in Kiel (Schleswig-Holstein, Germany). Images were taken using Zeiss Universal with Olympus C7070 CCD camera.

Diese Thecamoeben zeigen eine ganz besondere Art der Fortbewegung. Beim Klettern entlang von Algenfäden ähnelt ihre Fortbewegung der von Spannerraupen. Auf Deckgläsern zeigen sie gleitende Fortbewegung (Pellicula arbeitet wie die Ketten eines Raupenfahrzeugs).
